Boy, I'm with you on this ... I've heard the theories that they just don't have all that much left in the Vault that isn't already heavily distributed, but the multi-track stuff should indeed all be out by now. I also think your "10 a year" is a little generous - how many releases have there actually been since they ended Dick's Picks and the original download series? No all that many, and if you follow the feedback on the new 11/05-06/1979 downloads over at dead .net, it appears this newest release has a serious pitch problem - not exactly encouraging if it's true.

BD is obviously correct (per usual HA!)
But I would also agree with the last two posts.
And as previously stated around here,
there has got to be DVD material out there. SSDD is one
on everybodys tongue. But there has to be some stuff, even
later years would be fine with me. Some more View from
the Vaults perhaps?

And I would love to take credit for finding this,
but I came across it at another sight. And the first
rule of fight club is..........

I'm just throwing this out there, because I have absolutely no idea, but do you think that maybe one of the reasons there isn't more GD stuff released more quickly is to gauge sales on what is released and tailor their next pitch (perhaps too much credit to them) but also that maybe Phil and Bob are worried about how it impacts revnues for their other groups? Do Phil and Bob make any cash on sales of releases from those groups? (I don't know, because I don't follow either of them - although I'll say Chimenti and Lane are great guys).

I don't think they make any cash from releases from their groups. Just like the Dead I think it's all from performance.

JOTS, do they offer shows for sale at the end of the show? Like you can get your burned disc(s) on the way out of the venue - I think someone mentioned they got the same leaving the Ratdog show at Red Rocks last year (not this year).

Totally different point - I'm guessing Nash and Crosby will be the third act along w/ Allmans and Dead in Pa for Obama. Basing that on fact Nash and Crosby are doing some fundraisers for him as well (perhaps they should have sat in w/ "Babs" last night?).

They do ... I know this because my local venue (the Greek in LA) is one of the few that will not allow them to sell the show onsite.

Live Nation's website says "this venue is not a Live Nation venue, though I confess I have no idea what that means ...

I'm guessing it means they probably have the "exclusive" (or close thereto) right to promote shows there (pursuant to a lease like they had with the Warfield) but that they do not own the venue (as they own many, along with the local media outlets per their corporate daddy Clear Channel - yea, I know they are now "separate" entities). It is a great venue, but they (live nation) really do suck.

I get what you are saying. Im not too sure either.
And I know we have been over this subject to the point
of me banging my head against a tree, but I think the
point is that there is already a huge fan base in place.
Whats the point of gauging anything? Just release it;
someone is gonna buy it.

I don't think that the Egypt release is gonna be that
great (performance wise), but I am still excited to get it.

ooooppps, works over, gotta go home and listen to
some more Dead!!
